One Bar - Mentally Exhausted
 

Would someone please help me? I'm at my wit's end. :bangh:

LimeWire has worked for me before, but in the last few months I've been unable to download anything. The only bar that I get green is the littlest one.

I've gone through multiple steps and used a lot of the tips. Everyone's hints give me hope, but I must be missing steps or having some kind of stupid obvious fixable problem.

2. What firewalls you have? MICROSOFT (DISABLED) AND TRENDMICRO (HAS LIMEWIRE AS EXECPTIONS)


3. How much ram? NOT SURE


4. Hard Disk space available? NOT SURE


5. Connection type? CABLE


6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? MODEM: TOSHIBA PCX220 WIRELESS ROUTER: AIRLINK 101


7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? HOUSE


8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) LW: 4.16.2 JAVA: 1.6.0_04


9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? SUDDENLINK


10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? THE TEST WORKED


11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? NO


12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? THIS IS A NEW INSTANCE. I UPGRADED IN HOPES TO FIX THE PROBLEM.


13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES


14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? NOT SURE


15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? I’M NOT SURE


16. What country are you living in? USA

Try this:- (you must show all hidden files)
[1] Open windows explorer
select Tools à Folder Options à View à Show hidden files and folders.
[2] In windows explorer look for the Limewire Folder – go here:-
c:\documents and settings\username\applications data\LimeWire
(or)
c:\documents and settings\username\limewire

[3] Ensure that limewire is completely off (check that it isn't in the system tray-bottom right-if it is click on it and select exit)
now open the .limewire folder and look for and delete the gnutella.net file (see image below)

[4] download a new version from (here) and save it to yr desktop
[4] Drag the new gnutella.net file from your desktop into the limewire folder.
[5] Close the LW Folder and start up Limewire

if this doesnt fix yr problem try this link (if LW will not connect) and work yr way through these fixes

I've been dealing this issue with one of my PCs for a while now. I had figured it was my new router preventing LW from connecting.

Many thanks, replacing the gnutella.net resolved the problem.

I upgrade each time you have a new Limeware. Right now I have Limewire 4.16.0
Each time I start it the bottom bar goes back and forth untill it gives me an error message. I can't even send it. I have to discard it. The older version worked perfect. This one is giving me hell. When it did start it wouldn't have any of the D/L. Not even in incomplete. I copied the error message it gave me. Please helppp. My DL are getting staile.

Oh...and it kept gaving me another error message that I had upteen uploads. And was I sure I wanted to do that. So I stoped the Upload to see if it made a difference..NO, it didn't.

I just experienced exactly the same thing.....see my post .."invisible firewall"..somethings fishy going on here...
get frostwire...its free and is exactly like limewire pro!
I installed it and got a turbo connection with my trend micro firewall on in seconds!!
I've uninstalled limewire but kept the installer app for later experimenting...
