Real connection fix

For those with connection problems .......go to frostwire.com . Exactly like limewire , without the connection issues ......I went through every possible fix with limewire and none of them worked .....so frost wire is hte fastest and and the only one that really works :xeri_ok1ani:
happy again :super:

Nice idea which works for some but not all. Remember LW & FW are very similar & reasons for not connecting may be different ... such as set up reasons including software firewall, router blocking, ISP blocking or shaping, etc. But yes, FW can provide a fresh connection source. Some found after installing FW & connecting with it, then closed it & LW was able to connect. :)

I thought I'd try this and see if it would work for me, but I can't get anything to happen with FrostWire. I click the menu option to Connect and it does nothing--absolutely no hosts are listed in the Connections view. Does anyone know why it doesn't cycle through hosts and try to connect, even though it says 'Starting Connection' in the bottom left corner?

I had the same problem, so I uninstalled FrostWire and reinstalled LimeWire. It seems they have the same problem, which could mean only one thing: something is wrong with the Gnutella network.

Update to the most recent version of LW. Also, check this post http://www.gnutellaforums.com/306179-post17.html
Sometimes LW has the oddest answers to fixing connection issues which also includes Java, in some cases reverting back to Java 1.5_11 even does the trick.

I must admit I did post this a bit premature, however i did not have any problem connecting , the problem i had was the lack of sources for download . This lead me back to limewire , started by replacing the gnutella file again ....and now limewire is working again , but i have not tried it today ....Also i am running windows xp .....I read about other issues with vista ......Regardless it is a headache and good luck ....

Easily said, and a nice idea, but that's something I can't do right now because I'm not in a position where I can upgrade my OS. So as I said in the post you referenced there, the new version screws older version users like me who don't have the money to keep up. :(

Who said anything about upgrading OS. I was refering to DHT issues. Oh I guess you can't update due to an older system.

Exactly, two problems for the price of one (and headache of three)! :D

If you have ZoneAlarm and cannot connect, check out my solution. It worked for me, so I posted it on the forums. The link is in my sig.
