Reboot the computer. Try deleting the complete preferences folder whilst LW is CLOSED. But before you do, make sure you make a note of important settings such as your saving location, days to keep incomplete files, speed settings, etc. Close LW. Do steps (a) & (b) below, then to the following -> Next time you open LW you will need to redo all your settings. During that process, set LW to not connect on start up. So then you are opening the program but not connecting immediately. Let the program settle for 5-10 mins. Then go to File menu, choose connect. Give it plenty of time to connect. Before you choose connect. (a) Whilst LW is CLOSED! Also re-add the gnutella.net file as you did. Also add this one: Hostiles List (b) Check the Windows system tray (usually located in the bottom-right corner of the screen, next to the time), and locate the icon that is associated with the security program that you are using. Right-click the icon to enter the settings. User Cant Connect - LimeWire Edit: Your router may need rebooting or resetting. Depends on model how you do that. Perhaps turn it off for 10 mins then turn it back on. ;) It sounds like your router's UPnP is not working properly. UPnP is a communication process between the router & the program that allows the program to request the router which port(s) it needs to be opened whilst the program is open. |
Wtf Help!!!! OK done all that now i cant acess the connection tabs i go view to check and the connections tab isnt clickable im in a bigger mess then b4? now i cant even see if im connecting HELP!!!!!:bangh: |
LW"s menu bar, View -> Show / Hide Connections Is not clickable did you mean. um ... sounds like a java issue. Make sure LW is fully loaded & settled before you try to connect. If you have a lot of incomplete & shared files then LW can be slow responding whilst it is loading. If it is not connecting, try going to Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance & disabling DHT & ultrapeer capabilities. Then go to File menu, Choose Disconnect. Wait 5 mins, choose Connect again. |
Arrrrhhh!!!! I've done all that ive uninstalled java and reinstalled still nothing no connection at all :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:: yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::confused::confu sed::confused::confused::yikes::yikes::yikes:ARRRH HH!!!!! |

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has Google in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.0.1 You may need to put http:// or http://.www. before it. Try all options including without. You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is motorola. Click the Log In button to log in to your router. I am not sure which model you have, but my guess UPnP is listed under Firewall tab. UPnP stands for Universal Plug and Play. Also, do Enabling UPnP for Windows XP BTW text in Bold or large text = Shouting. If you wish to shout at us for trying to help you, then I really have other more interesting things to do. We are volunteers here. ;) |

I did some research & it appears your surfboard does not support UPnP. The article I saw is only 2 weeks old. The answer is to forward a port within the Motorola. Steps must be in this order & a static ip is the very first & most important step to do: 1. Setting up a Static ip for Windows XP 2. Find your Motorolla model here, click on link, then find LimeWire on the following page & click that link & follow directions: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall 3. I think you need to reboot your Motorolla after doing this process to both save & get the new firewall rules into action. |
