Cant Connect And Windows Firewall Off

i have Limewire 4.12 Pro and can't connect ... but have in the past. I am wondering if some annual fee has to be renewed. I can see the songlist ..of prior songs ..but it keeps saying it can't establish a connection. There is no firewall in the sytem tray ...but the icon with a red brick in front of it shows on the lower left hand corner? Any idea what is happening here?:confused:
