Hello? Is there an *********** out there?

I just need to know. Is there anyone in Australia who is ABLE to connect their LimeWire to the internet? I'd be genuinely interested to know if there is actually someone out there who is able to do this.

And if it's YOU, could you please give the rest of us a clue as to how to achieved this.

Please do NOT direct my attention to the reams of official instructions on how to do this. They have proved time and again to be redundant gibberish that supply no solution to this problem.

Thank You.

I'm from Oz and I have been using limewire for years...I also know that the solutions to connection problems do work, if you take the time to apply them properly...

Bryn February 8th, 2008 03:07 AM

Thanks WW - it's great to hear you are actually fully connected.

That I know how to properly connect LimeWire is proven by the fact that I had it running nicely for a whole two years until a couple of months ago.

I am now practically an authority on the official instructions, and could pass an exam with flying colours.

What I need are the instructions that haven't been written yet. THOSE are the instructions that I and millions of others are waiting to see.

Until then, once again I will now uninstall my useless LimeWire program.

Best Regards.

Can you supply these details so I can take a look at what might be causing your connection problems...

My specs are:

I am the administrator. BigPond ADSL Broadband. Modem: SpeedTouch 530. Connected from a house. No.10 - Result: 'Your Test Worked!'
I use Azureus for torrent downloading, and have PeerGuardian set up. Australia. This is a new problem with an experienced user of LimeWire.
There is a brickwall. Starting connection shows, but never completes. I have my LW set for port forwarding. Have Java 1.6.0_01

Thanks for any tips.

I used to be on the exact same set up as you with BigPond....

With your Port Forwarding it's not set up correctly...
You only need one TCP and one for UDP setting and the numbers have to be exactly the same...

ie. TCP incomming 50157 to 50157
....UDP outgoing 50157 to 50157

Your set up within limewire is fine...

Here are the detailed instructions for your modem/router...Also make sure you set up the static IP...If you have already set up one for your computer you wont have to do it again...;)

Bryn February 9th, 2008 02:15 PM

Thanks for sticking with me ww. :)

There are two port numbers because one is for my Azureus (which I've never had Firewall or connectivity problems with from Day One).

I have previously had your suggested port numbers in there for a couple of days (50157) - but changed them to see if this would help.

Thanks for the modem port forwarding link. I'll check that out. (Your link doesn't connect, so I'll Google it instead).

You need a seperate rule for Azureus...ie you need to select a seperate port number and create a TCP and UDP for it....You will then have a list of port forwarded applications within your modem settings...

I don't have the speedtouch any more, but it's virtually the same thing...
This is a shot of my modem/router rules....

Okay ww. I've been having trouble this morning with ALL my connectivities. They've been starting but not finishing. I've done a System Restore and things look back on track now.

I've printed out 8 pages of stuff from your link.

But as I said - I haven't ever had the slightest problem with Azureus.

Bryn February 9th, 2008 05:53 PM

Dear O dear O dear. And Christ wept.

No trouble up to page 7 - and then the instructions are asking me to type in the Static IP address. WHERE is this static IP address? From page one there's no mention of a static IP address.

And when I clicked their find your static IP address I got http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...nd/static1.png

And how can I enter my IP address in this text box when following the instructions has shown this to be fe80::fff:fff:fffd%5

Something has gone wrong...did you find the DNS server numbers for Bigpond ok ?

EDIT...from what I have just seen in the instructions, you look like you already have a static IP address set up on your comp...

Step 10:
Before you make any changes, write down the settings that you see on this page. If something goes wrong you can always change the settings back to what they were! You should see a dot in the Obtain an IP address automatically box. If you do not, your connection is already setup for a static ip. Just close all these windows and you are done.

You don't have the dot there, you have it in the other option Use the following IP address....So close all the static IP stuff down and just go ahead with setting the port numbers...
Where it says to add static IP number just leave it blank the computer will take care of the rest....

Bryn February 10th, 2008 02:08 PM

Did I find the DNS server numbers? Yes:

10.0.0.138
fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1
fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1
fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1

The dot you saw in my screenshot was where I placed it. But originally it was here:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...iamond/ww6.png

According to the instructions this means I don't have a Static IP Address set up.

I think Step 10 may be where the misunderstanding is... "... write down the settings you see on this page". Does this mean the numbers I see entered on the instruction page - or what I see on the screen? I've assumed that the numbers on the instruction page are an example only of what I should be seeing on my screen.

Hi Bryn...

That's just one of the DNS server numbers (10.0.0.138)...You also need an alternate one as well....From memory Telstra do list both of these...

If it isn't there try these...(just pick your state)
DNS Numbers

Attachment 3922 (this is a very small thumbnail) lol...

With step 10 it means the numbers you see on your screen, not what's written in the instructions, they're just an example...;)

erkaninho would you be able to start a new thread of your own as if I help you with yours as well in this thread it will get to confusing...:)
Just supply these details in your new thread...

Bryn February 11th, 2008 01:03 PM

I used my Belarc to find out my IP Address and a couple of DNS Server numbers, and I've filled in the 'Local Area Connection 4 Properties'

However - Step 10 is still a mystery to me when it asks for... 'First Computer's Static IP, Second Computer's Static IP' (etc). I haven't a clue.

Where is this 'Static' IP number found in my computer? If the terminology suddenly jumps from ... 'enter your current IP Address' -- to then using the term 'Static IP Address' -- then I assume these are not the same.

Dear O dear O dear....

Many thanks for your help, ww.

I'll go and see if this has solved the problem of my LimeWire's bad connectivity.

Bryn February 11th, 2008 01:17 PM

It doesn't work.

Subject closed. Bloody ridiculous.

Thanks anyway, ww. You've tried hard, and I appreciate that.

wondering why February 12th, 2008 01:51 AM

We have come this far, so your not allowed to give up yet...:D

Your not meant to enter anything into the static IP 1, 2 etc...

All you do is enter your computer's default gateway and your computer's current IP Address and then you click on the Find Static IP addresses you will then see a list of numbers appear and you just have to choose one of them...
