Router: D-Link WBR-1310 - Need Firewall Limewire Help :)hello everyone this is my first post. i've just figured out how to fix my router troubles with Shareaza but now I wanna figure out my problem wtih LimeWire's firewall. As i said I have a Dlink WBR-1310 router. I run Vista. Optimum cable line. I have version LimeWire 4.16.3 PRO. I cannot figure out how to get rid of the firewall icon over the blue icon. I can't seem to get my downloads to download most of the time. They stay at "need more sources" almost 90% of the time on whatever i download. it sucks. i can connect alright. i got "Turbo-charged connection" reading. But i can't get that pesky firewall icon to go away. i think that's what making the downloads bad. are there any tests i can use to test my firewall for Limewire. Please help. thanks. |
DLink may not be the most reliable at UPnP, thus, perhaps you should port forward your device. Most important step is step 1 which is setting up a static ip: Setting up Static IP for VISTA (click on link). Then follow these directions Port Forwarding for the D-Link WBR-1310 In my experience, D-Link requires both saving the settings after changing, then rebooting the router to enable the new settings to come into operation. Re: Vista firewall, see User Cant Connect - LimeWire Your ISP is infamous for problems with p2p. It might be worth checking for Optimum issues & suggestions & ports to use here ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire (Optimum can be found on the list). So perhaps you should apply such a port for port forwarding, such as port 64049 for example. :) Edit: I had a problem similar to yours when I got a D-Link router (could download but rare sharing & I knew downlding could be better.) After port forwarding all problems solved. |
hi lord, i just did setup the new ports for Limewire updated the ports for Limewire on my router rebooted router and port forwarded. i used the suggested port 64049. but i still get a firewall icon in the blue symbol in LimeWire :bangh:. is that supposed to still be there after i do this all if done correctly? im not sure if i did it correctly. Please help. Thanks pal. :xeri_ok1ani: |
hey, i just thought of something. maybe i think Limewire's current port settings that i set before in trying to fix the firewall problem are affecting my Shareaza port settings. I have Shareaza at 192.168.0.136 with a port number of 60000. Limewire's currently set at 192.168.0.140 with a port number of 64049. just a hunch. what gives? what i am doing wrong? i still can't get rid of that damn firewall icon in limewire. is it always going to be there with a router? please help... |
