Lime Wire won't connect

I have recently been having problems with my lime wire showing that there is a firewall blocking my limewire. I went to windows firewall and made sure that limewire was an exception and it was. I have MacAfee Security and removed my firewall and it still shows the firewall and won't connect. I am perplexed. Can anyone help? I have LimeWire Pro 4.16. I have Windows XP Media edition. I use Timewarner Broadband Cable,

:(

For what it's worth, I'm having exactly the same problem ever since I updated to the NEW Limewire yesterday. Before worked perfectly. And I've done exactly what Ronnie60 has already done. What's up with this?

I'm not exactly sure if this will work for the new version.. I still have 4.15.0 and i was having the same problem. To fix it i had to redownload gnutella and just save it in my limewire folder. once i did that it connected no problem. good luck

Ronnie60/doctor of oldies,

In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes - if they dont work pse click on (system details) and fill in as much as you can and post back here

thats what happened to me!!! I tried everything to fix it nothing worked...i finally fixed my problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the old version. you can find the old version at filehippo.com - Download Free Software

Hmmm, I only see the newest version there [4.16.6]. That's when my problems started.

when you go to filehippo.com click on limewire 4.16 under file sharing. after that it'll take you to another page. the right side of that page has all the limewire versions listed.

Well this has done zip my friend. :bangh: There is NO place to download an older version, and this so called NEW version sucks. I'm fed up trying all this!. All was just fine BEFORE this upgrade. You know the old story, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Ever since I got stuck with this new version, nothing works. It sucks BIG time!...Thanks for your reply though

Any other suggestions or am I otta luck now?

jassad2 February 26th, 2008 10:58 PM

was your old version 4.12.14??? you should be able to download from that site i gave you. not too sure why you can't. this is the exact page that contains that version. Download LimeWire Basic 4.12.14 - filehippo.com
once you're on the page, there is a green column on the right hand side that has all the versions on limewire listed. at the top of the column it says to download this version...click on that and you should be able to get your older version.. if your older version is not 4.12.14 than click on the correct one first and then click on download this version.
I couldn't remember exactly which version i previously had so it took a few installs and reinstalls of different versions. only that one version works for me!!! weird huh??? Hope you have better luck this time. i know how you feel. i went nuts for several days trying everything!!!!! lmk how it goes.

one more thing....your security setings might try and stop the download. The bar that appears across the top usually says click here if you want to allow the download.... just click on it. and proceed from there. Good luck!!!

BINGO!!..Thanks jassad2. I was clicking on the incorrect place to download. It worked AND connected too.:)

Many thanks again!:Smilywais:
