Cant connect .. and first time hello

Hello all - this is my first time posting, so just want to thank everyone ahead of time for any help.

I am having the "starting connection" issue I have seen a lot across the forum. I just upgraded to Limewire Pro - it was working before I upgraded, although I hadnt run it in a month or two before I upgraded, so there could have been a problem before the upgrade.

Note that I've been working at this for hours and Ive tried every piece of advice I saw -- I've checked and double-checked my hardware router/firewall settings to allow the correct TCP/UDP port through, I've assigned Limewire with full access in McAfee (it already was there, I removed and readded), Ive shut off the startup tips and automatic connection, Ive even tried different ports (changing settings on the firewall as well).

One interesting note - downloads that I had in my queue are downloading fine, but Im still getting the connection message and of course I cant search.

Thanks all!

Have you checked with yr ISP that they are not suddenly blocking P2P -- also when you upgrade LW yr previous settings are changed - you have to go back into LW options and recheck Also check in yr Add/Remove Programs that you only have 1 version of java.

Thanks for the message
I've checked all of these settings and they were already in place for the most part. I changed the one setting that was not in place and still no luck.
As for Java, I have a "Java runtime environment 6" and a "Java 6 Update 5" installed in Add/Remove programs. I would think that they both need to be there since one is an "update", no?

NO -- you should have only 1 version of java runtime environment in your add/remove Programs -- keep the latest and delete the other -- let us know how you get on
