firewalled - help
 

i can connect to limewire - i have the firewall symbol. i have gone int o windows defender and ticked to allow limewire but it has made no difference.

im running vista basic

help anyone please :bangh:

In Limewire Links (below) please click on (if LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if it still doesnt work please click on (system details) fill in as much as you can and post back here

I have followed what threads i can to check my system and im not getting anywhere

when i start Limewire it just sticks on 'loading messages' and doesnt connect

my systen information is as follows :-

vista basic - im the only user of the computer - does that make me the admisnistrator ????

I have two firewalls - windows defender which is switched off and Zone alarm - i have checked he latter and it allows lime wire through

not sure on ram ????? sorry

lots of disc space ( new computer )

connection is broad band ( quite fast )

router - net gear dg834g

used only in my house

lastest lime wire and I have updated Java to the lastest too (limewire 4.16.6 ) - i updated Java on installation of lime wire as it asked me too

isp - pipex

did the test and yes it worked

not sharing with anyone

1st time trying to use lime wire

yes there is a brick wall infront of the blue world

not sure what qusetion 14 means - there is only me using the router

security is AVG and AVG spyware and Zone alarm

im in the uk


for what its worth when i try to search ( which i know i cant as the connection bars are red ) it says it must finish loading before i can search BUT i have left it alone for an hour and it doesnt stop scrolling 'loading messages'

I am running the same system (except I use McAfee) and had the same problems which I also could not fix after having tried everything. This morning I deleted all the exceptions in McAfee, and any reference to Limewire in the windows Firewall. So Limewire was completely barred from any internet access. When I started Limewire I got the Windows Firewall window telling me Limewire was not an approved program and did I wish to approve it for exception. I clicked yes (or ok), and presto - turbo charged in about 10 seconds! I've shut down Limewire completely, rebooted the computer, started it back up and she's still turbo charged! Might work for you.

tried doing as you suggeted and it didnt work - all i get is the rolling 'loading messsages' and thats as far as i get - im not sure whether i am connected to the internet or not but Lime wire never gets beyond this point. :(:bangh:

Hi kate, try this:-
This has worked for a few Vista users: Uninstall LW (start > all programs > LW > uninstall) & ZA. Now reinstall LW first. Finally, reinstall ZA. Installing LW before ZA seems to be the trick
Double check that the Windows firewall's off.

In LW file > disconnect. Wait 10 minutes, then file > connect.

have uninstalled Zone alarm and limewire then reinstalled lime wire and then zone alarm - works -

( you dont know how to fix washing machines too do you - mine blew up and flooded the kitchen today as well as no lime wire - bad day )

okayy, i am having problems with downloading my music. when i click to download a song, nothing happens.
above the information about songs, it says, with and exclamation point inside of a triangle, that : Only search results with a LW symbol are official LW communications, and then it has a link that says more info!!
what should i do?
i think it has something to do with a firewall, but i'm pretty sure i don't have one.

can you please help me?
