Limewire Connection problem Hi all, glad I found this place as I've struck a problem connecting with my Limewire connecting to the network. I'm hoping someone, anyone, can offer some advice that will help solve the problem. As per the "sticky" thread instructions here are my details: 1. Windows XP 2. Firewalls - Norton - but have gone in and changed settings to “allow” all incoming/outgoing traffic through Limewire. Also have tried “custom” setting on firewall for Limewire application. 3. 512MB ram 4. Hard Disk available - about 10GB 5. Connection type - ADSL Broadband 6. Modem - Siemens 4200 Speedstream 7. Home connection 8. Limewire version - 4.16.6, latest JAVA updated 1.6.0_05 9. ISP - Bigpond (Australia) 10. Result - Your Test Worked 11. Not sharing a connection 12. This is a new problem - I am a long term user. Problem first occurred with previous version of Limewire and has continued with latest version Limewire Pro 4.16.6 purchased and installed. 13. Brickwall is showing on LW’s interface 14. UPnP enabled (I think - not 100% sure how to check this) 15. Norton - see point 2 16. Australia Everything was running smoothly with Limewire until a couple of days ago. I can't think of anything that has changed regards Firewall setup or otherwise. The problem did first occur when I was using an older version of LW Pro (think it was 4.12 or 4.13). I updated to 4.16.6 in the hope that this would fix it but alas still no connecting established. I've downloaded all available Java updates as well and adjusted the settings on my Norton firewall to allow LW traffic. Only other thing that might be relevant is that I had some problems with my broadband connection through my ISP a couple of days back requiring a resetting of my ISP password but everything is back to normal with that so far as I can see. Any advise or preferably a solution to this problem would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. Rhys. |
You could try Port Forwarding your router. I only found instruction for a Seimens 4200. Not a Speedstream. You can try and if it does'nt work, no harm done. The only other thing I can think of is to make sure you also have the MS Windows Firewall disabled. |
are you using tiscali to connect too i found they will only let you connect from 1am till 8am they are blocking it i have changed to another broadband |
