Stupid LW - Won't Connect
 
LW randomly stopped working..... I typed this up once, then it started to work again.... Now nothing :mad:

I have 1 of 5 green bars.... attempting to connect


I have disabled connection on startup



1. OS version? XP - Administrator
2. What firewalls you have? Norton AntiVirus - LW set to "Permit All". I disabled all Norton items and still no change.
3. How much ram? 2GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 300GB
5. Connection type? Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola S85101, TrendNet TEW-432BRP
7. Where are you trying to connect from? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW - 4.17.1, Java - 1.6.0_05
9. Who is your ISP? Rogers Cable
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My test works.
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? uTorrent is also setup on my machine... Port Forwarding on a different port.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? New problem, experienced user.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? I have the brick wall...
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up? Port Forwarding...
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Norton as above
16. What country are you living in? Canada

Hi Bridge, If you have been able to connect in the past, the existing exceptions in your security program(s) may have stopped working. Remove all exceptions for LimeWire in all of your security programs, and then re-add them. -- then restart Limewire. if this doesnt fix yr problem -- go to Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and work yr way through these fixes -- pse let us know how you get on

Rogers of Canada has been confirmed to be shaping bandwidth.

But the short story is, ports 49152 to 65535 are the ones to shoot for. They're known as Dynamic or Private Ports, and are there to use freely without stepping on any ports being used by your computer for other things.If you do not no how to setup ports on LW here is how.Go your Tools in LW than Options>Advanced>Firewall Config>than use listening port than enter any of them numbers i gave you and see if they work.
