Trouble Connecting please help

Hi everyone. My Limewrie will not connect to the network and shows that the program has detected a firewall even though my ZoneAlarm is set to allow Limewire to access the internet and Windows Firewall is turned off. Anybody know what I can do about this?

I think your problem is your ISP, Pipex/Homecall. See ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire & find it on the list. Look for suggestions or links within it to other threads which suggest how best to deal with the problem. ;)

I visited this website Security Scan as the ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire page instructed me to do and I scanned all the ports from 0 to 65000 and didn't find a single open port. What do you suggest I do next?

Hi...

What about port 80 ?

(Serious question.)

Lord of the Rings April 16th, 2008 12:19 PM

I found those tests can be a little deceiving at times. For example, UPnP routers will close ports for receiving unless a particular program with UPnP abilities requests the router to open the port whilst the program is open. So ... if I had LW port set to a particular port, then it may actually show as being open by the test. For some confusing reason I found this to be true with port forwarded devices also.

* Edit: What i meant was I needed to have LW open with the port setting to the particular port for the test to work. If LW was not open, then the test would say the port was closed. And this seemed to apply to both UPnP and router manually port forwarded to the specific port. Perhaps this was just a particular router or mac issue. I don't know.
