can't connect...already tried everything!!
 
Here's my info...

1. OS version? Vista
2. What firewalls you have? just Norton Internet Security, already allowed Limewire
3. How much ram? 1.99GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 162GB
5. Connection type? cable (roadrunner)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola Surfboard router model number SBG900
7. Where are you trying to connect from: apartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.1.6 Pro Java 1.6.0-oem
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner Cable
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your test worked"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. first try with LW on this computer and at this location
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ yep
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? no clue
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Norton Internet Security
16. What country are you living in? USA

1. Be sure VISTA firewall is disabled if using Norton Firewall. They two will clash otherwise and will cause problems. Also, be careful with Norton. If you do system or norton or LW updates, you may need to reconfigure LW for norton. ie: remove previous firewall rule and re-add.

2. If still problems, it may be your router. In that case, port forward it.
First step is the most important & must be done correctly else the process won't work: (a) Setting up static ip for VISTA
(b) follow directions here Port Forwarding for the Motorola SBG 900

Not sure what you mean by Vista Firewall, but the Windows Firewall was already disabled. It's probably the same thing.

I already tried the port forwarding, and it doesn't work. None of the static IPs provided by that site worked. Still stuck!

Are you sure the port forwarding process for the motorola was saved? Some devices require saving the settings and rebooting both the router and computer for changes to take effect.
