Oh OH !
The secret is out !
Who told you ?
I bet it was one of those Aussies !

Anyway, seeing as you're here I suppose we have to deal with you... :p

It's great that you started with your system details... Normally don't get to see them until about the 4th post !

But, most folks do actually ask a question or two !
Can you give some idea of what you are seeing...
Is the installation of LW really OK ?

The thing is that the problem could be one of several things... Hey, more than one, maybe !

How about a bit of verbose rendition on the problem ?

Last for now... I think you'd better prepare yourself by having a good look at >

If LimeWire Will Not Load

dawng April 16th, 2008 04:50 PM

its showing the brick wall is up but i allowed LW through my firewall and am not running the windows firewall.i have uninstalled and reinstalled LW a nuber of times.. i believe i have done everything in the connection posts on this site..i just don't know what else to do.

dawng April 16th, 2008 04:55 PM

if i could somehow get the older version of LW back that actually worked, would it have the same problems or would it work the same as before???

ursula April 16th, 2008 04:56 PM

I should have asked before...

Have you very recently either updated or done a new install of LimeWire ?

(Gotta go to sleep now as it's almost 02:00, but keep it going as others will come in here to help you...
Probably those Aussies !!!)

I believe that you would need to do a very thorough uninstall first if you were to have a hope of returning to an earlier iteration.

Crazy thing about the computer biz... well, not only the comp biz...
Newest ain't necessarily best or better.

dawng April 16th, 2008 05:02 PM

dawng April 17th, 2008 08:06 PM

ok so i did everything on this forum including the link limewire won't load.i have talked to my IP (shaw) they have reassured me that they do not do any port blocking.
is there anything else i can do??? or am i just hooped????
maybe someone has a good suggestion of where i can download from that actually works and is as good as lime wire.. i don't want to download off of a big virus trap either.. PLEASE HELP!

Remoc April 17th, 2008 08:25 PM

If you want to try the older version then see below. I would completely wipe the latest version off of the machine before trying this. Use the LW uninstaller and NOT Add/Remove Programs option.

Limewire. Old Version of Limewire Download
And here for the Whole index of older apps. Old Version Downloads - OldApps.com :laugh_2:

And another.
Download LimeWire Basic 4.16.6 - filehippo.com

dawng April 17th, 2008 08:30 PM

thanks but i have tried 3 other versions of LW and they don't work either. i completely removed the other version first and still nothing... i'm thinking i was just not meant to use limewire (sigh)

Remoc April 17th, 2008 08:44 PM

Have you tried the suggestions from Birdy?? See Link Below

If LW Will Not Connect

dawng April 17th, 2008 08:46 PM

yes,i have done every single thing off of that page:bangh: and still nothing.

dawng April 18th, 2008 05:23 PM

so now that i have done everything in this forum to get my LW working, does that mean i'm pretty well out of luck?

Remoc April 18th, 2008 05:32 PM

Is there any chance that you may have a Windows Security Program or Firewall Running?? This is just a guess or suggestion that you may Look into.

dawng April 18th, 2008 05:38 PM

nope,my windows firewall is off..and i have limewire allowed by my shaw firewall

Remoc April 18th, 2008 05:57 PM

Shaw is censoring Internet feeds and lying about it - Boing Boing

dawng April 18th, 2008 06:05 PM
