To aid helpers in solving download/upload problems, LimeWire and Frostwire users must specify whether they are downloading a torrent file or a file from the Gnutella network. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.  Limewire Connection problems I have tried reading every post on here that i can find about connection issuses. I have done all the things I have read about and still unable to connect. Can someone please assist me in what i should do. I am not really all that computer smart so the kindergarten instructions work best with me. I think i should answer one of the questionaires I saw on here about what i have and don't have so maybe someone can help me. 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? Avast is the only one I know of... 3. How much ram? Who tells you that cause i am not sure... 4. Hard Disk space available? Where would I figure this out? 5. Connection type? wireless 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Not sure where this information comes from either? 7. Where are you trying to connect from? home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Dwnloaded and paid for PRO cause it suddenly will not work so I thought that it would now but uh I was wrong 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast? 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Says "Internet explorer could not display" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? don't really know 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem never had issuses with it before 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I think that is one of the things I read and tried and it said yes 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall  Avast? 16. What country are you living in? United States. I hope this helps to figure out the problems cause I am lost.  |

| Examine the router I'm not really a "techie" either, but am now relieved to have gotten limewire going agian after much frustration. I was experiencing problems connecting for a long time and suspected my isp (Comcast). I attempted all the other suggestions from changing ports to proxies - no dice. The heart of the problem was my wireless router which came pretuned with a firewall. It's a Belkin Wireless G -Just needed to go to the router's homepage (not the company's, the router's - yes it has one) and turn it off. It was clear after examining the log file from the router this was the issue as there were 100's of lines of "IP SPOOFING" - I think this is the result of limewire connecting to peers. Screen shot |

| Got it Ok so the wireless thing you are referring to and the great picture helps... but how do I get to that screen? A website I look up or is it something on my computer? |

| patience makes perfect Most wireless router's are built/programmed with a homepage that you must navigate to. So it's technically not on the internet, but in the router itself. You must find the address (to type into your browser) for the router. Do this by going to your "start menu", and select "run". In the small "run" window that appears where it asks what you want to open, type in "CMD" - an abbreviation to get to the command prompt. A black window appears, type in "IPCONFIG" without the quotes and press enter. Note that line that reads "Default gateway" - that is the address to you router. Plug it into your browser.. normally it's like 168.192.#.# format for most routers. So in the browser you'd put like "http://192.168.#.#" That should take you to your router homepage. From there you need to login...your are your own from that point, so if you don't know the login info, you might have to find the little pin hole on the router to reset it back to factory settings with the default user info...normally like Login: "administrator" , pw="password" , screen shot Good luck. |
