In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- Also have a look at this link by LOTR (Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should) if yr problem still remains click on (system details) and fill in as much as you can and post back here |
Lw Not Connecting!!! Has anyone found a solution to this yet? My LW was also working fine one day and then wouldnt connect the next. I have tried everything. Reset my firewall settings, uninstalled pro, reinstalled basic then upgraded again to pro in desparation. This is the fourth time I've paid for Pro!! (so much for a one off payment). Have tried resetting all defaults etc. I'm running on Vista. My neighbour also has LW and hers is working fine. Please can someone help?? |

Follow the instructions given in my post above (#5) |
Think it's worked!! Yippee Went through all the things on your list and it appears that it was the deleting and reinstalling the gnutella file that has made it work. I tried the other bits first ie updating Java and resetting preferences and they didn't help. I now have a turbo charged connection. Shame i have had to pay again for Pro which is a lot annoying but at last it's working. Can't think what would have happened to corrupt the file as it was fine one day and not the next?? Thanks:super: |

Try this:- (you must show all hidden files) [1] Open windows explorer (windows XP SP2) select Tools à select Folder Options à select View à select Show hidden files and folders. [2] In windows explorer look for the Limewire Folder – go here:- c:\documents and settings\username\applications data\LimeWire (or) c:\documents and settings\username\limewire [3] Ensure that limewire is completely off (check that it isn't in the system tray-bottom right-if it is click on it and select exit) now open the .limewire folder and look for and delete the gnutella.net file (see image below) If you don't find a gnutella.net file dont panic - go to para [4] and cont. http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/LW_g...1196869679.jpg [4] download a new version from (here) and save it to yr desktop [5] Drag the new gnutella.net file from your desktop into the limewire folder. [6] Close the LW Folder and start up Limewire NOTE: If you are using VISTA you will find the LimeWire folder here:-C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire ß(Preference Folder) Click on this link (vista - show hidden files) Let us know how you get on |
It worked!! Thank you, I'm so so happy now. SeeYa |
