Connection Vista Problems!

Ok, I've been having problems for weeks, so I've contacted Dell and after a week, I finally took matters into my own hands and was dumb and unstalled my own computer and here I am in the same boat I can't download any music,or videos from Graboid And I lost everything in my system... I'm wicked Mad,:bangh: and Music Deprived. I have Norton Internet Sercurity, which also I have not changed. Another thing thats kind of wierd is that I have a labtop, and another desktop computer that I download both graboid and LW on to and neither of them I could download anything from. So, before I send $120 to someone in another country to fix my computer I thought I would give my lovely fellow problem solvers a try! Please help! -Tattooedchick24

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit
2. What firewalls you have? I have all 3 (domain, public, private) windows firewall off and I have norton internet sercurity on, but I'm allowing LW, but I still have the little firewall over my world!!
3. ram? 1.93 GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 263 GB from C 9.92 from D
5. Connection type? broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Windstreams modem -SpeedStream 4200 USB ADSL Modem
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.18.1
9. Who is your isp provider? Windstream
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user> I have used LW all the time on this computer everything just stopped working one day.

Thank you so much in advance for all your replys!:aweof: You would be my angels if you helped me fix this!! :PEACE:

Try this, if only temporarily to see if it connects, log into your SpeedStream 4200 & disable NAT .. or/& set for DMZ. See if LW connects then. If yes, then you will need to port forward the device so you still have NAT security but a rule allowing LW access. It would suggest that model's UPnP doesn't work efficiently for everyone.

There appears to be a lot of users using the Windstream service & having problems connecting with LW. Do a forum search for Windstream & you will get an idea. ;)
