![]() Hello, I've recently gotten a used laptop and am trying to use Limewire. It will not connect to Gnutella, it stays at one bar. This problem is very strange to me as 2 other desktop pcs on my home network are able to use limewire without any problems. I have updated Java on the laptop and disabled all firewalls and antivirus software that might block it. I am very confused by this issue and would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks, Dan |

![]() LW cannot connect using same connection or listening ports as other LW's on same LAN. Try changing the connection & listening ports, even if manually if necessary. Ports to try are 49152 - 65535 (64049 is a good one to try.) Routers tend to reserve ports for particular programs on each computer. So the 3rd LW "might" be clashing with the port from one of the others. Something to try anyway. ![]() Go to LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewalls & check listening & connection ports. ![]() Something else to try is disabling all options in the Performance tab section; a description is 3rd on list here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html |

![]() Laptop computer using: - Windows XP - 0 Firewalls - Unknown amount of RAM ... But it is plenty - Over 50GB hard drive space free - Broadband connection (Cable) - Moterola Modem, Linksys Wireless Router - Connecting from Home - Latest versions of both LimeWire and Java - ISP: Rogers High Speed - The test page link given DOES NOT work... It comes up Unable to Display - two other computers share this connection ... one of witch runs LimeWire just fine... I do not run both at the same time - I am an experienced LimeWire user - Yes there is a brick wall in the icon - I am not sure if UPnP is used, I am fairly sure no port forwarding - I am not currently running any security software - I am connected in Canada |
