LW will not even initialize!!!

I have used LW for yrs now & never had a prob like this so I am lost. I restored my cpu to an earlier time & limewire was not on it, so I downloaded it again & now I double click on the desktop icon, & gone everywhere on this darn cpu to try to get it to just pop up , initialize or whatever & I get nuttin!!!
Got a dell dimension 4700 pentium 4 2.79ghz, 504mb xp home edition sp 2 and connect to net with a siemens speedstream 4100 adsl modem, and PSCI (perry spencer rural cooperative internet) a southern Indiana redneck down home company, service is great not connection probs of any kind have always been able to connect b4.
I have mcaffe & windows defender both are off not showing in my lil icon window like they normally do.
I am at my wits end & i have to have my limewire!!!! I am lost with out it!!!
any suggestions??

Try updating your Java: Java SE Downloads
Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions (via Add/Remove Programs) before installing this one.

Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

If that doesn't help, right click on the LW icon > properties > compatibility. Try running in compatibility mode for Win 2000 or NT.

Do you have Alcohol software installed? If so, look here.
LW starts then close, log: resolve_virtual_call
