Pro Version Worked OK -Now DOES NOT - WHY??? Symantec w/ Permissions I'M CRYING! My Limewire Pro 4.16 worked FINE a few nights ago. Logged on two nights ago, wall image with connecting message will not go away. Have stepped through every self-help message and thread tip for setting my symantec firewall. Have read and tried EVERYTHING. Cannot figure out what changed. Yes, I have disabled, unistalled, reinstalled, upgraded, set, re-set, plugged, unplugged, rebooted, bribed, offered to cook the techs at Limewire a three-course meal and still nothing. I need my music, man! Help! Here's what this blond girl knows: 1. Running Microsoft XP Home 2 LimeWire Pro 4.16 (was OK) went bad, upgraded to 4.18 Pro (still no go) 3. Symantec Client Firewall - no connectivitiy with it enabled or not 4. High Speed cable throguh Roadrunner (Brighthouse) 5. Using Lynksis Wireless connection... through aforementioned router. Where's what the blond girl doesn't know: 1. What the heck changed? 2. Saturday's winning lottery numbers? Will take help with EITHER question one or two. Or, heck, BOTH! THANKS! Carrie :anxious2: |
Hi Carrie, You said that you've tried everything, so I guess you've been through all the fixes here: If LW Will Not Connect When you deleted the preferences folder, did you have to go through the LW setup wizard all over again? If you didn't, then the folder wasn't deleted properly;) In that case, make sure that LW's completely closed (check in Task Manager) & try again:) Go to the gnutella.net file & hover your mouse over it...what size is the file? Did you make sure to remove all other versions of Java before changing to another version & which version are you using now? What's the model of your Linksys & are you using it with UPnP enabled, or is port forwarding set up? Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Also, just double check that the XP firewall is off. |
