Limewire Thinks I Have A Firewall

After never having any problems previously, I can no longer connect to LW. The problem appears to be that LW thinks it sees a firewall. However, I've completed disabled my firewall in McAfee (which has always worked for me in the past as far as getting on LW), but no dice. Any idea what might be going on?

HI,

I'm using norton internet security on Window XP and disabled by firewall and I have the same problem.

I have NO Firewall, & I still cannot connect.........

I don't even have a firewall, and sometimes it lets me on and sometimes it doesn't, every time this happens, I have to delete it and redownload it to work. Sometimes that doesn't work.:bangh:

After having LW pro, ive had no problems in the past until now. I allowed exceptions in both my computer's built in firewall and in norton's firewall. It still thinks there is a firewall. I also just updated LW to the latest version but the problem still stands.

i think it has something to do with the recent update, because normally I could connect to it instantly, but as of late, its rare that i can get past 1 bar... I have trend micro and i shut it off and closed it, AND my windows firewall is off too and it still says it detects a firewall...

Have you upgraded your version of LW recently -- if so you will have to reconfigure your firewall settings -- if you haven't upgraded -- In Limewire Links (below) click on (Fixes for LW when LW isn't operating as it should) if your problem remains click on (system details) fill in and post back here

Ensure you only have one software firewall running -- in your case nortons -- have you configured your nortons to allow LW full access if not go to this link (Limewire & Norton Internet Security 2007) scroll down to post #2 @ #3 -- follow the instructions by shanah16. -- reboot your computer now try and connect to LW -- if still no good In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if your problem still remains click on (system details) fill in and post back here

Fixed (for now)

For whatever it's worth, I completely purged any Limewire related programs from my system and then re-downloaded and it's working again.

I'm having similar problems with connections and firewalls! I posted over a week ago, but then I went on vaca where I didn't have access to a computer, so with my luck I got responses but that thread is now erased! Anyway, I upgraded to PRO sometime last year; a few months ago, however, I started having connection problems. It has the "firewall" icon at the bottom, but I've allowed Limewire for my McAfee programs. (Technically, I don't even have a working McAfee program; it expired and I don't have the $ to update it, so the firewall shouldn't even be a problem!) In the lower-left corner, it constantly says "Starting Connection" but never actually establishes one. I'm dying here! I noticed someone recommends uninstalling, then reinstalling Limewire; has anyone tried that and had success? And will I have to pay for PRO again if I do that?? I'm dying here! I want my Limewire working again!

I have just recently downloaded limewire and I have yet to be able to connect! It just says it found a firewall...I definately allowed limewire as an exception or whatever already...I don't know what to do. I am disappointed! :( I was looking foward to using this...

If you have had your pro version for less than 6 months you should be ok if longer than 6 months you will have to repay -- if your problem still remains after uninstall/reinstall -- In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if still no good click on (system details) fill in and post back here

In the Limewire link (If LW will not connect) you try these fixes one at a time starting from the top and work your way through the lot -- the instructions are easy to follow so just take your time and make sure you follow the instructions properly otherwise the fix wont work -- One fix wont fix everyones problems because of all the different computer configurations and software etc etc. even though the problem is the same.
