Restarted the computer multiple times. Tried closing the tips screen, too. Frostwire works perfectly, but then, tried limewire and it was still doing the same thing...not able to connect. My Mcafee firewall has been set to allow Limewire full access and windows firewall is disabled. I'm not sure what else to do... Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, pixie |
Hi, and many thanks for your info in your FIRST post ! Stuff of dreams for us ! But, you have not specified if you have an XP Home or Pro or Media Centre. (The latter two are actually both 'Pro'.) There may be a problem with the shared network, especially if the OS is XP Home... I've got a KB document on SP3 floating around here someplace but can't find it right now ! Have a browse around the Microshaft site as the 'problem' is hardly unique... No big deal, if I recall correctly... Just more amusing re-configs ! --------------------------------------- Ooooops.. Just re-read your post and it sounds more and more that it may be a Limewire problem... But, WHY, if you only did the SP3 update AND Frostwire was unaffected ??? Have a look at the various Limewire problem-solving links in my signature below... Of course, there is a tasty morsel of logic behind the idea of just continuing with Frostwire and perhaps trying Phex as well, hmmm ? |
Xp Sp3 Thank you for replying. :) I have XP Home edition. Lol, really, I should just go with frostwire, but this problem is just driving me nutz. I dislike not being able to figure out my computer problems. So, for now, I am running Limewire from my laptop and transferring the music to my desktop. But, I will figure this out...just don't have the time until next week... Pixie |
I haven't used LW in a long time, but I can say that SP3's addition to my XP-MCE system had no detrimental effects |
