Seems to me like a lot of people are having the same problems I've been having and that is....happily using Limewire until they tell you to get a free upgrade and then when you do, you find out you have firewall issues! I've done just about everything that was suggested on the help page, make Limewire an exception, get rid of all my firewalls, uninstall and reinstall Limewire and it still thinks I've got firewall!!!

I was hoping to find a thread to help me out but so far to no avail since all the solutions were links to more links to more links to more links that weren't even helpful. And I'm sorry, but I don't know why some people think it's our fault that we can't get through this firewall issue. I've been trying to figure this out for almost half a day and it still doesn't work. All I did was download the upgrade!!!! and now I have to go through all this trouble to find out how to make it work??? Limewire's previous upgrades worked fine until now and the threads make it seem like the customers have no right to be frustrated when people ask for help and they don't get it???! I'm not a computer expert, and it would be unfair to expect me to become one in a day. This whole situation could have been avoided if Limewire gave us a proper upgrade! Love Limewire, but if I can't get it to work, I'm going to have to use something else. Any suggestions for another peer-to-peer network?

Well guys My son is in the same boat.
I don't use LW anymore, but I let him use it. The last four days he has been unable to connect, and we've had LW for about 3 Yrs. now.
All I can say is that eventually you will become as frusted as I did, about a Yr. & a 1/2 ago and find an alternitive to this piece of CraP.
All I can do is suggest that you do your research and you'll find something that suits you without All the B/S Associated with LW.

With the new version LW, you need to delete your LW preferences folder.
You will most likely also need to remove & re-add firewall rules for the program (possibly other security software too.)
