my limewire never seems to link up to very many hosts. Occasionally it gets to [95 hosts / 2B files/ 2 TB available] which is fecking cool coz i assume that means i can search thro 2 billion files to find the one i want. But more often that not it only wants to connect to about 2 with the possibilty of searching 3k files. great. !!!!!!!SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE MUST HAVE SOME ADVICE ON GETTING IT TO CONNECT TO MORE HOSTS!!!!!! practical advice in lamens terms would be greatly appreciated.

I thought it was random?

The highest I got was I think 135 it might've been 125 or 115

Don't worry about it so much. If you are running in superpeer mode, the number of hosts will vary depending on the people you are connected to. It really doesn't effect the search results very much (unless you are only connected to 1 host, of course).
