Brick wall suggests a firewall. Either your software firewall (XP firewall), else your modem/router's NAT which behaves a little like a firewall.

Would be great if you could find out the brand & model number of your modem/router which is what your internet connection passes thru to your internet service provider. It's usually a small box which connects to your computer, so check where all the wires lead to your computer.

This is also happening to me. But if my internet is working everywhere else, why is it not working on just Limewire with the downloads? I'm wireless, but the modem/router is located directly next to my laptop. My light is on to idicate my wireless is connected, plus it says it's connected on my connections window. I just don't understand why limewire isn't recognizing that it's connected.
