WildBlue Satellite modem connection problem(s) I have been trouble shooting my connection trouble for days using forum postings and FAQs w/ no success-can you maybe give me some help please? Here's my sys info: 1. OS version? Vista Home Premium w/ Admin access 2. What firewalls you have? Windows-off and McAfee (temporarily disabled McAfee-no success on LW connection) 3. How much ram? 3062 MB 4. Hard Disk space available? 200 GB 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Satellite modem 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? LinkSys WRT310N 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.8.1 - Java 1.6.0-oem 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? WildBlue 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Got msg "your test worked" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No sharing or other p2p programs 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP enabled - tried setting up port forwarding-ran into prob w/ having only 1 DNS 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? McAfee Internet suite 16. What country are you living in? USA I have 20+ years of computer exp., I set up our home network myself and I'm a certified computer internet installer which makes this bloody problem all the more frustrating. |
If my memory serves me correctly the problem lays with Wildblue....My suggestion would be to phone them and ask them about the DNS numbers, tell them you need to open up a port within your router to allow a program through the firewall..... Also ask them their policy on P2P, they maybe bocking you from using it...;) |
Contacted WildBlue Immediately after my last post I contacted WildBlue, and they were most helpful, as usual. "We don't support static ip's and we don't support P2P programs". Would you have any other suggestions? Living in a rural community, presently dsl and cable are not available for broadband. I really appreciate your quick response to my first post.
