won't connect - tried everything. Could connect up until a few weeks ago. ISP Orange (France) Router - Sagem Livebox Windows xp sp3 Sygate firewall (limewire enabled as exception) Nod32 antivirus XP firewall disabled Portforwarded, static ip for Utorrent - NOT Limewire. Tried the faq steps. Can't seem to find any preferences file mind you - users, app data etc! Anyway, I don't know about all this upnp malarkey - I can't see an enable/disable option when I go to my router page. And anyway, I don't remember setting up Limewire via the router in the past, and fail to see how those settings could've been suddenly wiped. Unless I did set it up ages ago and have forgotten, and now a firmware update has wiped it - unlikely though. I can't see any mention of Limewire on the router set up page, I can still use Utorrent just fine. Limewire has just suddenly stopped connecting... I've gone through the steps, removed and re downloaded Limewire, tried changing the listen port etc, gone back to default. No change. My firewall shows that Limewire is (trying to) connect to about 10 different things : connect, listen, udp and tcp : is that normal? Any help, greatly appreciated, particularly from anybody with a Sagem Livebox. :licklips: |
You really need to try the fixes in this thread.... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html Now as daunting as they seem, you need to try them...You need to find your preference folder and delete it as suggested...It is there.... |
Thanks for the reply, but as I said - I've tried everything in the section you referenced. Except deleting the preferences file - which I can't find. I have two user accounts listed and it's in neither! And yes, before you ask, I have enabled 'show hidden and sy files' via folder options, and have followed the instructions to the letter, three times. I understand what you mean - it HAS to be in there somewhere, the question is where? So, any constructive suggestions as to where it might be hiding? Also, Limewire worked fine up until recently, so the chances of it being suddenly connected to the one (of the myriad) fix(es) suggested in the help section that I can't apply are - I'm guessing - pretty low anyway. :licklips: |
Try following the steps within this thread re: your preference folder... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html That's about all the advice I can give you on it for vista... If that fails could you supply your system details please... I will need all the info it suggests to post... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html |
I already have supplied my system details in the original post. And it ain't Vista!!! Look, never mind, I'm sure I'll work it out and thanks for your time. |
Can't connect after updated to 4.18 Never had problems before -- been using LimeWire from my laptop for years. Just updated and now cannot connect. Have tried ALL the solutions listed - have even turned off the Norton and nothing works. Funny thing, though, it continues to work just fine from our desktop computer, which by the way, uses the same router. I even checked the firewall settings in Norton for allowing LimeWire on the desktop, but when I set it the same on my laptop, the program still won't connect... Is there a way to get the old version back??? it was working fine until I updated... Don't know what else to try??? |
I am also having problems now...ARGGGGG! I love Limewire. I have Vista, went through the FAQ's, even totally disabled McAfee. All i get is the one bar. It USED to work and I have the latest ver of LW. I may have had to wait about 5-10 minutes, but the bars did go up. I am using a linksys router and NOTHING is preventing ANYTHING from coming threw! Does anyone else got a linksys router that is working with Vista? PLEASE HELP!!!!! |
