Default Issue with using proxy

Hi!

Last year on my college network I used the proxy option to get limewire through the "security" so I could download my stuff.

Come back this year hook up my stuff and pre-check the proxys to make sure they are allowing connection. However I open the socks5 proxy and set it up.... but only to have limewire stay stuck on the "limewire is currently connecting to network" witht he 1 little green bar.....

Did they possibly do something that would block me even if im using an elite proxy?

If so... what and how can I fix this... i've been working on it for a little while but to no avail.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

AFAIK the lifespan of proxies is shortish anyway. You need to keep changing them. So I'd suggest keep trying new ones & find new sources of them.

Yes the college may well have done something of prevention.

I am aware that the lifespan of proxies is quite short-lived. I use a brand new one and it still won't connect em to the network, I can however, connect using Utorrent for torrent downloads but LW just will not connect.

If im using an elite proxy to hide my connection and still can't connect thru open ports... what could be the problem and are there any ways of getting around it?
