Default Cannot connect since saturday

Hello! I was using LimeWire last Saturday. Then, I was using my PC las night and LimeWire opened but didn't connect. Same thing for Monday. I've tried to follow every instruction in the forum, but I cannot find eihter a folder labeled .limewire (Application Data folder has only a Microsoft folder) nor a gnutella.net document. I uninstalled and installed again twice (and cleaned registry every time), and restored system. Everything else is running quite right, even LW. It just keeps without connection.

System info: Windows XP Professional, SP3, updated. Intel GLC865, 2GB RAM. McAfee firewall, LW full access thru.

Thanks for all of your help.

Try the fixes in the thread below, there are lots to try.
If LW Will Not Connect

You might not have a .limewire folder, if you're using a later version of LW. Read the 'delete preferences folder' bit in that help thread for more info.

You need to make sure that you're looking in the right place for the gnutella.net file...check the help thread for basic instructions.

If nothing there helps, post back with your system details...see the help thread for info about which details we need.

I'm having the same problem recently...nothing has changed in my system. Running 4.18.6. I've tried all the options in the guide for connections....no luck.

UPDATE: Got it to work. If you are like me I keep using the latest installer which says it uninstalls old versions. However, I know that nothing really ever uninstalls completely clean. So, I uninstalled Limewire, found every directory and file still on my computer that had limewire....example under Documents and Settings {username} and Program Files and deleted. I then ran my Norton Systemworks reg cleaner and cleaned out all the old Limewire references. I then rebooted. I then installed 4.18.6 "fresh" and left all defaults as-is and ran.....connected to TURBO almost immediately !!!! I'll see if this stays.

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. long time user? Second time, but I've been using LW three years. First time was a year and a half or so ago.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes

Have you made sure that the XP firewall's off & that only the McAfee firewall is on & configured to allow LW? Try removing the LW rules from McAfee's config & adding them again.

Did you try all of the fixes in the help link in post #2 (click on the blue link)??
Did you have trouble with any of them?
Which version of Java do you have?

After you deleted the preferences folder, did you have to go through the setup wizard all over again?

If you have the 'manual port forward' option chosen within LW's tools > advanced > firewall config then try checking the 'use UPnP' option > apply > ok. Then restart LW. The Motorola SB5101i doesn't have a firewall of it's own.
