Dwindling hosts.... I am using the freeware version of Limewire 2.2.1, and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the previous version that I was using (1.8c). I can never seem to connect to more than 2,500 hosts (the older Limewire version could get up to as much as 10,000 on occasion), and it seems very unstable in holding the hosts (i.e. one minute there's 1,700, then I enter a search and it drops down to 600, etc.). As a consequence, I don't get nearly the number of results as I once did. Also, it looks like users who are trying to upload from me are having a difficult time connecting and staying connected. Am I doing something wrong? I am using a 400 MHz Macintosh G4 with 256MB of RAM...I am on a network (no firewall) with a T1 connection. Dr. Necessitor P.S. I just switched back to version 1.8c and I'm having the same problem, so I think that would indicate my preferences are screwed up or something...anyone know? |
Yep, I know what you mean. I've got the same problem and I don't know what to do about it. I saw also that other gnutella clients as Phex and Mactella have the same problem on a mac. Can somebody tell me what is going on? Ranah |
Don't worry about it. The number of hosts displayed doesn't necessarily match the number of hosts that you have access to. |
I WOULDN'T worry about it, except for the results I listed above...fewer results, and poor connectivity for other users. |
