why won't LimeWire connect?
 
I've tried many different things to connect to limewirebut none of them worked. I have completly deleted limewire and redownloaded it, tryed to redownload the guntella.net thing and everything but nothing seems to work. Can someone help me?

1. OS version? (Windows xp)
2. What firewalls you have? windows
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available? 26.4 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) DSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? it is a Siemens: 060R-D246-A12
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. _ Click to see Sample image The newist versions
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? windstream
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? didn't work
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I had LW before but had to delete
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image Yes i do but windos excepts LW
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country US

We are not mind readers, we have no idea what your set up is & what may be causing your problem.

Check that you don't have a Windstream firewall - see this post: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/218807-post7.html

If that's not the problem, make sure that your Windows firewall's allowing LW: User Cant Connect - LimeWire

Otherwise, try the fixes in this thread. Start off by changing port numbers: If LW Will Not Connect

If none of those fixes help, could you try to find out the model of your modem/router (box that plugs into your computer & lets you connect to the net)? If no info's showing on top of the device, turn it upside down & the info might be underneath. If you have a wireless connection, the router might be in another room:)
