Network Connecting Ive read the connection problem topic and done what it says... the 5 red lines on the left hand side at the bottom turn green then they go away back to red and it keeps doing this.... what do i do to keep the network strong so i can download? |
Can you do your best to supply these details: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) :) It might be caused by a number of things. Such as a wireless router/modem being unreliable if you have too many incomplete files attempting to connect. In that scenario, Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link) which should at least help. :) Also, try disabling OOB under Tools > Options > Speed. You could perhaps also disable all performance options under Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance. |

Options I can think of is to go back to an older version, else just work with the newer one. :) The firewall issue (brick wall icon) might be as a result of having two software firewalls, else your SpeedTouch. Since you are using McAfee firewall, make sure XP firewall is turned off. Two firewalls results in less security, not more, plus other possible problems. Go to the control panel, double click on Windows Firewall, check the disable box. :) Alternate instructions on disabling XP firewall: Limewire says: "Currently connecting to the network..." - Gnutella Forums (click on blue link) Make sure LW (LimeWire) has full access through your McAfee firewall. Oh .. I think this is more applicable, just googled it, go to page 21: User Guide, then add LimeWire to the allowed internet programs. :) To disable OOB: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...-searching.gif Optional: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...ns-disable.gif As with the new version of LW, these options, Performance & OOB seem to have caused users problems. |
My 5 lines on the left hand side are still going green then red, i did have 5 light up at one point but it went right back down. It doesnt even search anything... my firewall has allowed the LW and i did all the options you have given me. :( |
Do you have a DNS number in your system Network settings? Without them can sometimes result in unreliable connection issues. |
Where do i find that? Why is it going up and down? |
ok downloads come up but ever since i replaced the gnuella file the downlads wont let me down load :( When i click download i get a pop-up box saying - Limewire is unable to find a license for this file. Download anyway? |
Answered via PM. But to repeat: License requirement (click on link) erm .. I'm not on windows at moment. I think you need to go to Control Panels > network settings. You will probably see a DNS tab there. By the way, did you Purge the files .. of those that were zero % downloaded? |
hi, I can't connect to the network, have chequed the firewall but still can't do it. Any ideas? |
