Connecting to network Hi, I have downloaded and installed the software and when i type in something to search it keeps coming up with the message "Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network" but then it searches and doesnt do anything and then it never says i have connected. I have re booted my computor but it does exactly the same thing. My step dad has installed it on his laptop aswell and getting exactly the same thing. Can anyone help me on this please? 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account.Vista and administrator 2. What firewalls you have? just windows firewall i think but i do have mcafee aswell but i have disabled them and tried it and it still didnt work 3. How much ram? i am not sure where i find this out 4. Hard Disk space available? i think it is 2gb, not sure if that is right sorry 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) usb internet connection 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? dont know i have a dell laptop with intel celeron dual-core 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? have tried home and work and doing the same thing 8. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. not first try had it on my old computor 13. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? dont know, sorry 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). surrey, united kingdom 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? no |
You don't have to disable your firewall...just make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall (2 will conflict with each other) & that the firewall's configured to allow LW. So you need to find out whether you have a McAfee firewall as well. If you do, try turning off the Windows firewall & then configuring McAfee to allow LW: Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center Otherwise, try the fixes in this thread: If LW Will Not Connect If nothing there helps, try to find out the brand & model of your modem/router (box that lets you connect to the net). It might be plugged into your computer or, if you have a wireless connection, it might be in another room. If no info's showing on top of the device, have a look underneath:) |
