Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.
(not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Please Help! No Connection! I recently switched ISP's and now limewire won't connect. I had comcast and it worked perfectly. I just switched to verizon and now limewire won't connect. 1. OS version? Microsoft Windows Vista 2. What firewalls you have? McAfee 3. How much ram? 766 MB 4. Hard Disk space available? 48.6 GB 5. Connection type? Wireless broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem: Westell Model # F90-610015-06, SN 08AK04086858 Router: Linksys SN CDF70DCH1026 7. Where are you trying to connect from? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LimeWire 4.18.5 Pro, Java 1.6.0_04 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says 'Your test worked!' whenever I go there. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yes, the connection is shared, I think, with another computer in the house. No idea what a p2p is at all. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? New problem with an experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I don't know 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Try the fixes in the thread below. If LW Will Not Connect If nothing there helps, try to find the model of your Linksys - what you gave in your first post looks like a serial number (the model will be something with letters & numbers, like WRT54G, BEFSR11, WAG200 etc). |

Did you try all of the fixes in the help thread, & did you have trouble with any of them? After you deleted the preferences folder - did you have to go through LW's setup wizard all over again? Did you try updating your Java (just that you're still using an older version)?? If you did try all of those fixes, you could look at port forwarding. The instructions are here: Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G You'll need to set up a static IP address first, there's a link to instructions within that port forwarding link. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router's setup should all be the same number. Try a port like 65000. |
