When you say "all the suggested tricks" - do you mean the fixes in this thread ?: If LW Will Not Connect
Did you have any problems or concerns with any of those fixes? Make sure that you try them all.

Did you only lose connection after updating to the latest LW version? If that's the case, then deleting LW's preferences folder(s) is normally a good fix. If you've already tried deleting the prefs folder(s) - did you have to go through LW's setup wizard all over again when you restarted LW?

After updat!ng/upgrading LW, some firewalls seem to need you to remove the current rules for LW & then start from scratch & allow LW again. Try that

If you're sure that you had no trouble with any of the fixes, & that McAfee firewall's allowing LW, you could try port forwarding. The instructions are here: Port Forwarding for the Netgear WPN824v2

You'll need to set up a static IP address first, there's a link for that within those port forwarding instructions. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within router config should all be the same number

Ok I was able to connect using frostwire but no luck with LW yet. I even tried port forwarding and had no luck. Any further suggestions? The only thing I havent done yet is use and older version of LW.

Go & find your gnutella.net file - how big is that file?

After deleting the prefs folder, did you have to go through LW's setup wizard all over again? The reason that we ask this is that sometimes people think they've deleted the prefs folder properly when in fact they haven't

Did you try other ports in the range within the help sticky?

Did you have any problems or concerns with any of the fixes in the help thread?
