Can Not Connect to Limewire :mad2: Here is the information for my PC: OS: Vista ISP: Suddenlink Cable Firewalls: Windows (disabled), Nortons (Limewire listed as an exception) RAM: 2GB Hard disk space: 162 GB Connection Type: Cable Modem w/ wireless router Modem: Motorola SBG900 Wireless Surfboard Gateway Connecting from home Limewire ver: 4.18.3 Java: 6 (updated recently) Did the test: Page not available I have 3 laptops connected to the wireless modem/router. I purchased limewire over a year ago Ver 4.16 I believe. In May of 2008 I began having problems with it. It showed that a firewall was detected and would only have the first green bar lit up on the connection bar. This was before I got my new modem. I e-mailed Limewire Technical support several times regarding this matter and never got a response back. After a while I forgot about it and when I thought about it again, my updates had run out. I deleted the old Limewire and purchased the newest version. I am having the same problems. Again I e-mailed technical support with no response. I read the forum here and tried most of the suggestions but still no luck. I am getting very frustrated. |
Looks to me like the Motorola. Some devices do not have reliable UPnP which allows a program to request a port be opened for it. 1. First and most important step in port forwarding is setting up a Static ip: Setting up Static ip for VISTA 2. Follow these directions for your router: Port Forwarding for the Motorola SBG 900 It will also be worth checking thru these suggestions: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html eg: having less incompletes will help stop flooding your router with files trying to connect whilst LW is attempting to connect. The other suggestions about disabling OOB & Performance settings also may help. * Keep in mind that with each new update of Norton or LW, you may need to remove the previous LW firewall setting & re-add it to Norton's firewall. Also, the newest version LW is best with new preferences folder, not using the older one. * If you are using LW on more than one computer, then they will need to connect & listen via different ports. Routers tend to reserve one port per computer. |
