Updated, now can't connect
 
ok, so i've been using limewire on this computer for over a year, i just updated, now i cant connect. I've been screwing around for a few days, and still can't figure it out. Someone pleeeaase help me!!! here are my details:

1. Windows Vista... I have the only account
2. Firewall is Norton
3. I'm not sure how much ram i have, nor where to check
4. 47.2 GB free hard disk space
5. cable connection
6. motorolla cable modem model sbv5120 and linksys router model wrt54g
7. connecting from my house
8. i have limewire 4.18.8 and java 1.6.0_07
9. my isp is optimum online
10. i did the test, and it just said "your test worked"
11. two other computers are connected to the router. both through a wired connection, one occasionally wireless
12. i've had limewire for years. 1 year on this computer. never had a problem until i upgraded to this new version
13. i see a brick wall in front of the globe
14. i have no idea if my modem and router is upnp or port forwarding, nor do i know where to check
15. i am using norton internet security and protection center
16. i am living in the USA

SAME HERE. This is REALLY frustrating!!!! ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Unbelievably frustrating. I also wish I had never touched the current Limewire. Everything worked fine on the old one, but they pester you for about a year to migrate forward. I should always remember, updates are almost never about doing anything useful for the user, they're all about some new grab the software is making. I give up with this app.

Guys, if you've just updated & can't connect - try the fix of deleting LW's preferences folder. See this thread for more info & remember that you may have 2 folders in different locations, if you've used older versions of LW in the past: If LW Will Not Connect

If a connection problem suddenly happens after updat1ng/upgrading LW then deleting the prefs folder is very often the fix.

If not then try all of the other fixes in that thread. Please tell us if you've had problems/concerns with any of the fixes.

Let us know if none of them work.
