Am I being choked? (By my ISP) My IP recently suspened the account because of a file my Daughter downloaded. Since that time limewire has crawled. There was no discussion of this by Mediacom but I think something is up. I can connect (fair) but generally end up with about 8 peers with 10 connecting constantly. I have tried another program (ares) and decided it just wasn't worth it. I have excellent performance everywhere but P2P. I have been connceting for an hour now with 7 peers, a leaf, and the same constant stream of connecting. |
It definately sounds like your ISP is blocking your connection and if they are the only thing you can do is to find another that doesn't interfere with p2p.... |
Spoke with the ISP I finally called the ISP and asked them point blank if they were doing something to limit our connection. They assured me that they were not. I can get an excellent connection but results are a shadow of what was received several weeks ago. My potential son-in-law pointed out that a search on his machine at home for an image dsc00183 (example only) might return a 100 or more. Our machine may return as many as 3 or 4. I run VISTA with a new (summer) linksys router. I have noticed that the firewall emblem shows up but only after re-installing limewire. It was not there during most of the problem time. How would I trouble shoot this? I will try to take out the router and eliminate things one at the time. |
