Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.

![]() I've been using LW for years and I get this sometimes and now I've tried everything I know to fix this and nothings worked so far. All it keeps on saying is "Starting Connection" 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account. Windows XP SP3 Admin 2. What firewalls you have? Shaw Secure 3. How much ram? 512 =[ 4. Hard Disk space available? 83 gb about 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) DOCSIS 2.0 So cable it's cable. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola (SB5102) 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.15.0 Java 1.60.0_07 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Shaw 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your test worked!" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Azuerus but I doubt that will have a effect. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Semi-new problem experienced user. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP I think new modem so I dunno. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall. Shaw Secure it includes a firewall and I have the app allowed both internal and external connections 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Canada 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? ![]() It could very well be Shaw. Have you asked them if they Throttle P2P ?? Not that they would give a straight answer, most ISPs Won't. This is what I found on Shaw. List of Internet Service Providers That Throttle P2P Traffic Seems that your Router Doesn't have a NAT Firewall so I'm thinking Shaw Secure is the issue. They can probably Block anything that they want to. Hope I'm wrong. |
