LW suddenly won't connect

Hi everyone, i'm new to this forum and hoping to get some help.
I have a vista 32bit os and bought pro when i got my computer.
Worked great never had any problems and sometime after installing norton 360 it will start up with one of five bars showing im connected to the network but won't show any results when searching. I have allowed LW to start up with my computer allowed it through my firewall and such, but im not sure what else to do? I'm hoping some one else has had this same or similar problem. I looked through other threads with no success of simliar postings. I'm looking forward to some good insight as i have heard good things from this forum.

Thanks,
-Chip

Make sure your Windows firewall is turned off. Do you see a brick wall at bottom of LW's interface? Norton & Windows firewalls cannot run together, they clash & cause problems including 'less' security, not more. ;)

Very old but still applicable Norton instructions for LimeWire: Configuring Norton Internet Security

(oops just realised the images are corrupt, I will need to re-upload them over next day or so.)

yes it shows a brick wall infront of a globe. How would i turn this off for LW with out leaving my whole computer at risk?

Thanks

Did you check your windows firewall? Make sure windows firewall is turned off.
Go to the control panel, double click on Windows Firewall, check the disable box. This should be done whilst LW is closed. Also make sure you made an exception in Norton's firewall for LW as described in link above.

If still problems check these options http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html since some of those settings may get you connected that initial time (eg: speed setting for searching, or advanced settings for performance, etc.)

If that doesn't solve the problem, then System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

my windows firewall is off however the brickwall is still there. Is this norton 360's firewall? I believe i had norton allow LW how would i check this?

I actually had the same problem on a vista machine and I had no firewall to begin with. And I'm not using Norton. :/ It just seems to be a really long wait time to connect for me. Not sure if that would help any.

I turned off both firewalls and the brick wall was still there. Now im completely lost!
