if i have a block on my wireless internet connection so nobody else can access it be the problem? i had the tech guys fix it when i first got wireless

leedsglaser November 6th, 2008 07:48 AM

no

It is your internet provider limiting and blocking access to P2P programs

from the same exchange?

When you say, 'where I live', how close are you talking?

i live in a real small town if that matters at all and everyone i know that has the same provider says limewire works for them...i know someone in my neighborhood and works perfectly fine

same problem

Other than my operating system (Vista) I'm having the same problems.

I've shut off my firewall, gone through the port forwarding routine for my router, yada yada yada. My LimeWire was working just fine until a few weeks ago, then I get notices about the NEW version. So I pay $35 to get that, thinking it's better and faster and all that jazz.... and IT"S USELESS and now I find out that Limewire has a NO REFUND policy. :( (As if you could actually get to someone to request a refund.)

For $35 something should install and work with few mods. I'm not a huge techie, nor do I have time to read through hundreds of forum posts to find out how to configure every bit of my system to work with the software.

It worked fine before...WHY NOT NOW?????

Sorry for the CAPS, but I'm more than a bit frustrated, and feel like I've been ripped off.

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: :confused:

And just to reiterate...Everything else works fine...good fast DSL connection, ISP doesnt block P2P, firewalls shut off, but LW still shows the brickwall, no connnection bars, it finds MY files....

HELP

i would really like to know how to fix..i posted all my info like i was asked !

Hi Mandii_m,

After you deleted LW's preferences folder, did you go through the LW setup wizard all over again?

Did you try both deleting & replacing the gnutella.net file? Deleting it works for some people but others find that the file needs to be replaced;)

After you disabled performance options & OOB searching, did you make sure to click Apply to save the change?

Did you make sure that you don't have more than 1 Java version installed on your computer?

Let us know if you had trouble with any of the help fixes, or if there were any that you didn't try.

Your router has a firewall. If you don't have port forwarding set up already, you could give that a try. UPnP doesn't seem to be so reilable in some routers. If you'd like to try port forwarding, let me know & I'll give you the info.
