![]() Hi guys! Im new around here and sorry for posting the 875,091,000th thread about connection or downloading problems. But after 3 frustrating months and hours trying different methods and tips I have read on this forum and all over the net I was forced to let at least somebody knows my frustration! Like I said sorry for posting this repetitive thread but I seriously need some help here. I have been a limewire user for years and years. Decided to purchase the Pro version so I installed it on all my computers. 3 running Vista, one running XP, and other running XP Profesional. Well, the free version used to work on all of them.. NOW LIMEWIRE DOESNT WORK ON NONE!!!! I downloaded multiple times the installation .exe file just in case.. tried instlling, reinstalling in all of my computers and Im succesful with the installation. Perfect! but when I try downloading music and I type and search, I get no results at all!!!! I tried many things, disabling firewalls, antivirus, tried on the safe mode with networking, wow I tried many things... here are my main PC specifictions: 1. HP Pavilion entertainment PC Windows Vista laptop 2. I have an administrator user acct but the annoying admin user control is disabled 3. firewalls (windows and comodo pro) also have Network Magic pro 4. I have sufficient space vilable on my hard drive 5. 2gb Ram 6. Comcast internet 7. I have a linksys router (wireless-G) 8. Connecting from home. But also I tried in other places like airports and hotspots with no success. LW version 4.18.8 PRO: 9. tried the link an it said IT WORKS 10. Im sharing connection w other computers, but that's the same way I had it before with LW free and it worked! Im running Network Magic pro to monitor my devices like (Playstation 3, PSP, computers) 11. I have been using LW for years now.... not an expert but Im experienced 12. yes I do see a brick wall on the bottom of the screen because is firewalled but when I disable firewalls curiously I still see the brick wall. 13. Honestly i dont know if Im port forwarding 14. I lived in Florida US 15. Everything in my computer changes frecuently, Im a download freak and I download stuff all the time... i.e. programs that I have recently installed (Photoshop CS3, elements) and that's about it! I really hope anyone can give me any tips on what my problem is. Please!!!! and your help will be appreciated!!!!! Last edited by Lord of the Rings; November 22nd, 2008 at 09:44 PM. ![]() Using more than one software firewall usually results in 'less' security not more because some firewalls clash with each other, which also causes other problems. So for LW, choose only 'one' of your firewalls to keep active, then put LW on the safe list; User Cant Connect - LimeWire Depending on which Linksys router you have, they did release a series of 'lemon' versions which had faulty firmware, they never fixed them fully with updates. So again, depending on model, you may need to port forward the device. Otherwise UPnP should work fine if it's not one of these poorer models. When upgrading to Pro, it's usually wise to delete the LW preferences folder; http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html If still problems, try these suggestions combined http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html |
