Never connects at night ? Hi I live in the UK, East of London, and for some unknow reason it connect up fine from about 0800/0900 in the morning however at around 1700/1800 a night all I get is 1 bar on the barometer !!!! Does anyone know any reason why this happens, and if so how to solve the problem. Thanks Andrew |
Who is your ISP? Sounds like your ISP isn't allowing you to use p2p during their peak hours... a few do this. You could try changing the port that LW uses, but if it's your ISP at fault, there's no guarantee it will help. In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall. Change LW's listening port to 65000 (you can also try other ports in the range of 49152 - 65535) > apply > ok. If you have port forwarding set up or a specific port number allowed through a firewall, you'll need to change the port forwarded/allowed to LW's new listening port;) |
Thanks for your reply, My ISP is Tiscali, I have a 8MB service. Sounds weird thats all, I swear it used to connect up all the time where I used to live, ( Grays Essex ) now I live nr Colchester is seems to dip out at night. Should I call them, or will that open a can of worms ! Thanks Andrew |
Tiscali... ouch!! Heaps of people have had trouble with them - either throttling downloads or blocking ports (I know Tiscali say that they don't do this but there's a lot of evidence to suggest that they do!!). There are a couple of links below, if you search on Google then you're bound to find more. SICK of TISCALI 's bulling tactics - ISPreview.co.uk Forum View: ISPs the cause of COD4 problems? Use the forum search to look for Tiscali. You'll find lots of past threads. Changing ports has helped some people, but hasn't worked for others. Did you try changing ports? Yep, it seems like people in some areas have huge problems while people living in other areas don't. I can't explain that one:confused: Honestly, I don't think that calling Tiscali will give you any joy. They're either going to deny everything or may say that you've been a heavy bandwidth user & so have had the Fair Usage Policy applied (where they limit your download speed). Tiscali - Fair usage policy If you want to use p2p programs without these limitations, my best advice would be to change ISP. If you're stuck with Tiscali then at least try changing ports - it might help:) |
