It might not be your AV... might be a software or hardware firewall or any number of other things - LW can behave differently on different computers. Try the fixes in the thread below & of nothing there helps, please post back with your system details.
If LW Will Not Connect

Hi there thanks for the imput, I have disabled the defender firewall. I actually think it was done automatically through Trend, the way I did it was to disable various protection through Trend.
I now have the problem of remenants of a older version of Limewire preventing me using the EXE file, I have gone through add/remove but I need to know the safest method to get the rest of it. Ps My Toshiba A300 is unstable at the best of times although it is NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas??????????

AFAIK it's better to use LW's own uninstall option (start > all programs > LW > uninstall).
