Default Connection Issue

1. OS version? Windows Vista - Admin account
2. What firewalls you have? MacAfee/Windows Firewall (Turned off atm)
3. How much ram? 2 GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 136 GB
5. Connection type? DSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Wireless Modem - 2Wire 2701 HG-B
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW: 4.18.8 Java: 1.6.0_11
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? ATT SBCYahoo
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your test worked!!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem/experience user
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ Yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Tried both
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Symnatec AntiVirus
16. What country are you living in? USA
17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? Switched from friends house to home/uninstalled both and reinstalled

So no idea what's wrong. I can connect at my friends house who uses ATT SBCYahoo but not at my house. Only difference is he uses a non-wireless modem and a wireless router where as I just use the wireless modem. I tried to allow the ports to be open up through my modem, still nothing. Nor when I enabled LW as an exception through MacAfee. I'm running out of options, any ideas?

Try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall. Change LW's listening port to 65000 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > apply > ok.

Keep the Windows firewall off (don't run two firewalls together or they'll conflict) & configure the McAfee firewall to allow LW's new port number: Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center

When you set up port forwarding, did you use these instructions? Go through the steps again for LW's new listening port: Port Forwarding for the 2 Wire 2701HG-B
LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within router setup must all be the same number.

If none of that helps & you're sure that you've done everything properly, there are more connection fixes to try here: If LW Will Not Connect
