unable to connect, but was fixed before by help from here.

a few months back i couldn't connect, and posted here about it, after i had adjusted virus scanner settings, and firewall settings, and also reinstalled lime wire, i was told to download a file and paste it over top of the old one, i got the file from a link on here, anyway that work and didn't have a problem for a long time, i haven't used limewire in proably 3 weeks, tried to use limewire, and it won't connect, says there is a firewall, but i have none. i checked and the virus scanner is still allowing limewire, so i looked for the link for that file on here and couldn't locate, wanted to try that again, cause in the time since it was fixed the last time, my version of xp has updated with service pack 3, and has done other updating. i do have the most recent version of limewire, and java is up to date. any help is appreciated.

i tried to log in here with my user name and password from a few months ago, it wouldn't let me, so i had to re register, but i used the exact same one, and it said i was never here before, but i know i have 3 or 4 posts here.

Maybe you're talking about replacing the gnutella.net file? There's info about that here: If LW Will Not Connect

If that doesn't help, go through the other fixes. If you're still stuck, post back with your system details.

Just a tip for next time - each forum section has sticky threads posted at the top of the section. The stickies have answers to commonly asked questions & fixes for common problems. The thread that I linked to is a sticky at the top of this Connection Problems section

yeah thats the file i was looking for. i did check the stickies out and other peoples threads, cause there seems to be alot of people with connection issues with limewire and alot of them seem to come up with the same problem. but i guess i missed that post with info about that file.

its funny yesterday after work, not even thinking i opened limewire and it connected fine and i was searching and coming up with results, and then i remembered it wasn't connecting before. so maybe my pc was just acting up or something. works fine tonight also. so i guess i'll just cross my fingers.
