Can't connect to LW!

Here's my details....please help me find what I am missing.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account.
Windows Vista, administrator account.
2. What firewalls you have?

Windows firewall is the only known I have
3. How much ram?

Not sure
4. Hard Disk space available?

143 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)

DSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? (eg: Linksys WRT54Gv4)

Actiontec…
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?

Home network
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
_ Click to see Sample image*It's very important that you tell us whether you're using LW 5*
I am using LW5, and have Java 6 update 11
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

Qwest DSL
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Oops! This Link appears broken.
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

Other computers on our home network only two desktops manually connected through router and DSL, then this laptop wirelessly.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

We’ve used LW for many years and still use older versions on our desktops
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
_ click here to see Sample image If you're using LW5, there's no firewall icon. In LW go tools > advanced tools...there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall or not.
I see ‘you are a Leaf node. You are behind a firewall and do not support firewall transfers’. I have already added Limewire to the approved list for windows firewall
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

Not sure….
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall

Avast!
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).
USA

You will need to change both the connection & listening ports for the LW which cannot connect. These ports must be different to those used on the other LW's on your network. Choose ports between 49152 - 65535 & best if listening & connection ports are the same. For LW 5, you can change these settings via Tools > options > advanced > super really advanced

narrow down options

Is there a way to narrow down the port options to use? There are a lot of numbers between 49152 - 65535. What about router configuration?

Choose any port between that range. They are all free from being used by any official net program. Port 64049 is a popular one to use. :)

I presume your router is set to UPnP. In that case you cannot change it, however listening port changing is important. This in itself might fix the problem.

Before we suggest other things, try these suggestions first: If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link)

If problems still with connecting, you could port forward your Actiontec router for the computer with connection problems.
Step 1 which is the most important one: Static ip for Vista

2. Router instructions - look for your model Actiontec. Choose a high number port as I suggested here, not the default port 6346.

I looked into my router more and found it has a firewall of its own! Geez..that fixed my problem! Thanks for your help!:yahoo:

I can't connect to Limewire. It stopped working in Spring 2008 and no matter how many times I install/uninstall and remove every file that hints at being a Limewire file I still get nothing when I try to start it.
