I've tried everything NO CONNECTION

I am a window vista user with DSL. I got limewire months ago, paid 49.95 for a life time scrip. I had the older 4.something version. That version worked well for me untill recently. The last couple of times it wouldn't connect. I went searching the site support and forums to try to connect. I've done everything everyone has suggested: changed norton firewall, internet options security, added the port, uninstalled and reinstalled (got this LW 5, that I don't like). I was able to connect yest. after waiting 6 hours!!! Now I can't reconnect. I'd like to go back to the older version of LW. Why hasn't a patch been created for these troubles. What do I do now?? I am not a happy camper. :mad2:

Sorry to hear that you're having problems - lots of people don't like the new LW 5;)

You can revert back to LW 4.18.8... go to LW's download page, click on the Get Basic button & you'll see a box with a link to click for old installers.

Have you been through the fixes in this thread? If LW Will Not Connect
Start off by deleting your gnutella.net file if you're still using LW 5, or you may need to replace the file if you've gone back to LW 4.

If nothing in that thread helps, please post back with your system details.

If you paid $49.95 for LW then it sounds like you were scammed. Did you pay for Pro (basic LW is free)?

The official LW site offers Pro ($21.95, 6 months of email support & free updates), Extended Pro ($34.95, 12 months of email support & free updates) & sometimes a one-off download for $13.95 (no updates & no support) or 6 months.

The only official site for download (shows on your CC statement as payment to LimeWireLLC) is Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

Who did you pay for LW, how much did you pay, when did you buy LW & did you get basic LW or Pro? The threads below have more info about what to do if you've been scammed;)

Reply-tag you're it

Hi thanks so much for the reply.
I purchased LW on 2/10/08 for $49.95. I paid thru Paypal to Clkbank, order # YJ2V7SHD username:ds0304 password 1952. This was a lifetime subscription to LW thru clk*bank.com. The product ID: 50083-031-2189483-02548.
If you think I can get my money back that would be great.
I downloaded the older version of LW that I liked (4.18). Thank you for that information. I got it to go once and never again. I have tried everything in the thread. I have changed the norton firewall settings. My window security is off. I added the listening port. I uninstalled and reinstalled. I have gone to advanced options in LW and norton. I have done everything I have read about. Still only one bar of conection :cheesy:. Please are there any more suggestions?
Thanks Bambi_D

Sorry, but you were scammed. The official site doesn't use Clickbank or Paypal & has never offered a lifetime subscription. Did you pay for LW Pro? LW basic is free.
It's probably too late to get your transaction reversed or get a refund, but you'd need to contact your bank/credit card company & ask them about that.

Did you replace your gnutella.net folder? After you deleted the preferences folder, did you have to go through LW's setup wizard again?

Could you please provide your system details? The connection help thread that I asked you to go through in post #2 has info about the details that we need.
