If your problem is not resolved by a search of the forums, please take the next step and post in the appropriate forum. There are many members who will be glad to help. If you are new to the world of file sharing please do not be shy! Everyone was ‘new’ when they first started. When posting, please include details for: Your Operating System ....... Your version of your Gnutella Client (* this is important for helping solve problems) ....... Your Internet connection (56K, Cable, DSL) ....... The exact error message, if one pops up Any other relevant information that you think may help ....... Try to make your post descriptive, specific, and clear so members can quickly and efficiently help you. To aid helpers in solving download/upload problems, LimeWire and Frostwire users must specify whether they are downloading a torrent file or a file from the Gnutella network. Members need to supply these details >>> System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) Moderators There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. | please help!!!!! 1. Windows Vista...i am not the administrator but i have access to the administrator username. 2. Windows firewall is disabled. McAfee firewall is enabled but limewire is added to the exception list. Unsure about firewall in a router. 3. 136 gb 4. 72.8 gb 5. High speed broadband 6. Motorolla 7. Home 8. Limewire 5.2.13 Pro. Java 1.6.0_15 9. CableOne 10. It worked 11. 3 computers connected to wireless router 12. New problem with experienced user 13. It says You are a Leaf node. You are behind a firewall and do not support firewall transfers 14. I am not sure... 15. McAfee 16. United States 17. I took advice on another forum and updated Java. I along with other people am getting the "Connecting..." continuously. I have checked my firewalls. windows is disabled. mcafee is enabled but Limewire is added to exception list. I've deleted the preferences folder, reset my modem and restarted my computer. this happened a year ago when i bought limewire pro then..but i somehow got it working?? i dont know..im sort of computer illiterate and i need help! any suggestions are appreciated.  |

| All wireless routers will have NAT protection, which does in a way behave like a firewall but is not a true firewall. Do you know which model Motorolla you are using? You did not mention whether other computers on your network are also using LW & whether they are able to connect. If there are other LW's on the network, make sure they are not using the same connection or listening port. Check this via LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Super really advanced -> Performance. A router will reserve a single port per program on the entire network & block all other attempts at using the same port from other computers/programs. With the firewall exception for McAffee, give the rule both TCP & UDP sub-rule exceptions. LW uses both TCP & UDP, and with some firewall rules it does not automatically give exception to both, so need to be added manually. Check the advice about deleting your gnutella.net file If LW 5 Will Not Connect. I'm not sure about CableOne. I've noticed others using same ISP have had connection problems. You could try manually adding a port number between ports 49152 - 65535; example 64049 or 50012. |

| If you deleted the preferences folder, yes that will delete the gnutella.net file also. But next time LW opens it will create a new preferences folder. It should also create a new gnutella.net file 'if' it is able to find the gnutella network. I'm thinking you might be best port forwarding your Motorolla device. This is not as hard as it sounds, but does require close attention to details. 1. First step is to set up a Static ip address. This is the most important step & must be done first: How to set up a static IP address on a Windows Vista 2. Follow directions described here Port Forwarding Limewire on the Motorola SBG 900. * Might I suggest you choose port 64049 to port forward, not port 21 or 6346 as suggested at the port forward site. You could even use a range of ports; example: start: 6346, end: 65535. However those two example images at top of the port forward page are for the old LW 4, you can check the ones for LW 5 here: Manual port forward instructions & sample image (2nd image) But be sure the connection & listening ports for LW in LW's advanced settings match those in the port forwarding of your Motorolla. And it is best if both connection & listening ports are the same.  3. After this entire process, might I suggest you reboot your computer. I'm not sure about your brand of router, but some routers are also best rebooted after making such changes. Rebooting a router might mean pressing a button in the router's control center that you logged into, or a button on the actual device, or simply turning the power off for a few minutes. |

| LOTR--you are a life-saver...as of right this second i did not have to set up a static IP address and just reconfig'd my router settings. Never fear..if I have problems in the future i will most definitely come back for help! thank you SOO MUCH! |
