Need help connecting to LimeWire

Microsoft XP Professional
Firewalls: Windows Firewall and Avast
768 Megabite RAM
LAN line, Ethernet Connection
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
I am trying to connect from a school where I work. From my teacher’s computer.
LimeWire. 5.2.13, Java 1.6.0_11
I have no idea who is the ISP
My test worked.
I do not believe that I am sharing my connection with other computer. I am plugged directly into the Ethernet port.
This is the first time I am tried to use LimeWire in Honduras. I used to have it in the States.
I do not see a brick wall, nor a blue world icon. On the bottom right corner it says connecting and there are no green nor blue bars, only empty bars. On the button right and the bottom center there is nothing.
In the middle of the LimeWire window it states in a green conversation bubble, “Network Error. There might be a problem with your internet connection.”
I would really like to take advantage of this fast connection on my computer. Please help me figure out this problem.

Do you know of anybody else who is able to use LW at the school? Many schools block p2p sharing programs. Also you have no access to their network firewall, only perhaps the computer you are at.

Also, only one firewall should be used with LW. Adding LW as an exception in the firewall rules & disabling the other firewall. ;)

i do not believe that anyone else has limewire here. If there is a network firewall, I do not think that I would have access to it, to make exceptions for LimeWire.

Is there a back-door way to get around that firewall if there is a network firewall?

Not as far as I know. You can try changing the connection & listening port to one between 49152 - 65535. You could also try port 80. Manual port forward instructions & sample image

You could also try another program like Phex for example & see if you have any better luck. But use a different connection port.
